History
Opening
an exercise studio was an idea that had been developing in CEO Terri
Walsh's head for years. Finally, after 15 years of filling classrooms,
successfully directing aerobic programs and training scores of private
clients, she did it.
Revolution
Studio officially opened in June 1997 after a practice run at a
nearby dance studio and the addition of two partners, Jeff Barneson
and Ken Moody. Together, they form a powerful team affectionately
known in the industry as the 'trinity'.
The
atmosphere they've created is part serious playroom and part raucous
research laboratory. You'll see trainers sharing information, classes
in development, theories being testedS. there's always something
happening at Revolution Studio. From the moment you walk in the
door, you're 'in training'. No one is 'too good' to learn something
new, share an idea or join in the fun. You can feel the energy,
it's infectious.
It's
this infectious energy that after only one year, took Revolution
Studio from a one floor, 4000 square foot space to a two floor 8000
square foot bright loft facility. The Studio has a private training
gym, a boxing room complete with boxing ring, heavy bags and competing
amateur boxers, as well as a spinning room vibrating with everything
from techno to salsa!
In
Revolutions' first year New York Magazine named the spin classes
as the Best Of New York! Cyclists now come from all over to train
for the popular NY/Boston AIDS rides as well as to keep up their
edge in the off season. An impressive Gerstung floor showcases the
main aerobic studio on the first floor along with the main training
floor that's filled with specialty equipment like pilates machines,
agility boards, climbing ropes and physio balls. It's a trainers'
heaven and a clients playground!
The
Studios' attention to the Boxing and Kickboxing craze has not gone
unnoticed. Revolution Studios effort was again rewarded for the
second year in a row. This time, Thai Boxing, was named as Best
Of New York from New York Magazine!
At
Revolution Studio the partners commit themselves to maintaining
an open, motivating and supportive atmosphere. There is no membership
fee, and there are no 'dues'. The Studios' flexibility, and 'pay
as you go' philosophy is a welcome alternative to busy New Yorkers.
This philosophy also ensures that you NEVER have an unpleasant experience.
The Studio partners are in it for the long haul, and serious about
the clients success. That's why everyone at Revolution Studio believes,
and ultimately, succeeds.
